This opening scene was made with combined shots in different places (from Mexico to the UK!). First shot was lensed with a Technocrane lowering down and zooming to follow the actors. Entering the hotel presented a wonderful opportunity for a transition in a different place. The shot continues with a steadcam following the actors up on the stairs and into an elevator. The hotel room is actually a set, which was built at Pinewood studios in the UK. 007 goes out from the window and the camera, now placed on a Technocrane again follows Bond through the roof. At this point the whole environment was recreated to combine the streets of Mexico.
